The Torah is the most precious article in Jewish life. In times of need, prayers are offered in its presence and it is the Torah and its timeless lessons that have carried us through our 3,300 year history.

We have commissioned a scribe in Israel to write a Torah for the physical and spiritual benefit of our community. On Sunday, February 21, a crowd of over 350 people joined by dignitaries, state officials, and community leaders gathered to write the first letters of the Tri Valley's first Community Torah.

The Torah is set to arrive in the Tri Valley to be completed and welcomed into our community on Sunday, August 29.

The scribe is presently completing the writing of the final book of the Torah.

You and your family can still have a part in the Community Torah.

This is the last opportunity to participate - CLICK HERE

By dedicating a portion of this Torah you will be fulfilling the great mitzvah of having a part in writing a Torah (Deuteronomy 31:19). This is also a unique and fitting way to honor a family member on their special day or a child fortheir Bar/Bat Mitzvah and memory of a loved one.

Every participant in the Community Torah will receive a beautiful certificate confirming and describing their personal part in the Torah.

Participants who dedicate $360 or more will have the opportunity to inscribe a letter together with the scribe at the Torah Dedication Ceremony. You will also receive a professional photograph of this special moment for yourself and your family.

By participating in the creation of this community Torah you will have a lifelong remembrance. And in a very special way, you are signifying that you are one with the Jewish People, one with tradition – one with destiny.

Despite years of upheaval and nightmarish suffering, none of the Torah’s 304,805 letters have been changed. The words we read in synagogue today are exactly those recorded by Moses.

______________________

In our tradition, the Jewish People are likened to the letters of the Torah. No letter is more important than another. All the letters of the Holy Torah are interdependent, for without even one letter, the entire Torah is rendered incomplete. Similarly, each and every Jew is a vital link in the unbreakable and everlasting chain that is the Jewish people. With even a single link missing, we are not whole; only together we are complete.

The very last mitzvah in the Torah is to write a Torah Scroll (Deuteronomy 31:19). And according to Jewish Law by endowing even a single letter, word, or sentence for yourself, your children, family members or friends, it is as if you have written your own Torah Scroll.

Indeed, it is an honor and great mitzvah for each and every family to join in and become partners in our Community Torah. It is this mitzvah that brings G-d’s great blessing and the fulfillment of His promises of protection to your children, your family, and your home.
